First of all, if you're seeing this post entitled "Making Drastic Parenting Choices" and think that means that I consider myself some parenting guru, let's get something straight right now: that couldn't be further from the truth.  I am just a mom who is loving her kids fiercely while trying to figure it all out and stay sane through the ups and downs of this thing we call parenting, who isn't afraid to share the struggles and triumphs along the way. I guess two years into this CC and Mike blogging journey, I find myself in a unique position where I...

I've been thinking a lot about motherhood. Perhaps because it's Mother's Day. Perhaps because lately, motherhood has absolutely been kicking my bootie. If we're keeping it real, because that's what I do, I just spent a solid fifteen minutes bawling my eyes out on my closet floor. Why was I on the closet floor you ask? Well, because my kids kept knocking on the door so it's the only place I could go where they couldn't hear me. That's motherhood—sobbing on the closet floor trying not to let your kids hear you while the knock incessantly screaming things like "Mom...

I'm ready to talk about why my kids don't have social media. Now first of all, let me get something out of the way. This is a zero judgment post. You go ahead and raise your kids the way you want to and I'll do the same. I do, however, look around and find myself in the minority these days and sometimes, it can feel a little lonely. You can start to question yourself, and think maybe you're crazy or there's something wrong with you if you don't let your kids have their own phone and social media. It's isolating, at...

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with one single step." - Lao Tzao You know what I've realized recently? I'm great at taking the first step. It comes naturally to me, if I'm being honest. Starting is my specialty, I would say, and I'm never short on ideas – OMG let's start a new company, won't that be fun?! I'm going to start blogging again! I'm going to start a print shop and sell my prints! Why not write a book? It's all going to be so wonderful! Cue that annoyingly hilarous song from the Lego Move – Everything is awesome!! That's my mindset at...

I've been struggling this week. And when I say I've been struggling, I mean—I started ugly crying in the car in the middle of a torrential downpour while listening to a Miley Cyrus song—kind of struggling. My daughter probably thought I was crazy when she told me she wanted to sing the song she we was working on in  her lesson, and as the music soared and she hit the refrain, I burst into tears.  OK, not just tears you guys, it was that ugly sob that contorts your face into something that looks like it belongs in a horror movie and...

Last Friday, one of my best girls and I shrugged off all our responsibilities — you know, like seven kids between the two of us and a million job responsibilities and without a doubt, a ridiculous amount of unfolded laundry we should've been attending to — and headed to Pawhuska, Oklahoma, for a much needed Girl's Trip to the Pioneer Woman Mercantile. Yes, it was worth the drive and no, it wasn't just because of that chocolate cake. OK, the chocolate cake didn't hurt, nor did the chicken fried steak. Oh my heavens I'm still dreaming about that gravy.  Maybe I gained a...

I've been thinking a lot about fairytales lately. More specifically, I've been thinking about how there's really no such thing as a fairytale, if there's not a villain.  Cinderella had the wicked stepmother and evil sisters who made her life a living hell;  Sleeping Beauty had Maleficent to contend with; Snow White had the wicked queen trying to murder her because of jealousy; Rapunzel had her kidnapper brainwashing her and keeping her captive for her own selfish gain. Villains are what make a fairytale a fairytale. How boring would it be if the story went like this...

I remember the first time I met Mandy Ferguson Kraft as if it was yesterday. But then again, I imagine anyone who has ever met her would say the exact same thing. Mandy was someone you noticed.  Sure, she was gorgeous with her dark skin and dark hair and those long, dark eyelashes that she perfectly manicured with her safety pin and Q-tips, but it wasn't just that.  There was something about Mandy that drew you to her.  Her smile lit up a room.  Her laugh made you happy.  Just being in Mandy's presence, was a gift. I remember in college when Mandy met Brian,...

A new year has begun and we are so excited for what 2017 will bring, but first, I thought it would be fun to look back at CC and Mike's Top 10 Lifestyle Blog Posts of 2016. 1. A Letter of Forgiveness to the Man Who Tried to Murder My Mom - On Sept. 16th, 2016, I sat down and in 30 minutes —with a lot of tears shed—, I wrote a letter of forgiveness to the man who tried to murder my mother on Sept. 16, 1990.  To this day, it is the most read and most shared blog post that I've ever written....

OK so it's a big day.  I get it.  I'm sure we will all be inundated with nothing but doomsday Election Day coverage in our news feeds and I don't know about you, but I just need a break from all the seriousness.  So, I give you "Miller Musings," a random collection of crappy iphone photos I've been taking along with stories I've been jotting down in my phone because I want to remember them.  And by stories, I mean super embarrassing mom moments that happen as I'm out and about with my crazy crew.  Maybe you can read these and...
